Car modeling, rigging, and animation at yU+co

The James Bond DB5 was a project done as an employee of yU+co, a motion graphics/titles studio in Los Angeles, California. I worked as a 3D artist on this project alongside a Spark AR developer and several producers.

I did most of the work on the DB5 car itself, from optimizing the model to fit the file size requirements, to the rigging and animation of the car itself to fit the sequence. I was provided with a high quality model of the DB5 from the James Bond movie, optimized the polycount and worked on creating textures and materials to make the car look relatively realistic in Spark AR, Facebook’s AR platform. I had to create a rig to make the car move somewhat realistically, which involved a few steps of iteration as we explored what the car could and couldn’t do based on the client’s requests and specifications.
